Marion Starr is a dedicated, passionate Doctor of Traditional Chinese medicine and is registered in BC. She has been in practice in the Nelson area for the past 20 years.
Dr Starr was educated in Victoria BC , graduating in 1997.
She had the very great privilege of attending the International College of Traditional Chinese Medicine with her daughter, Kendra. They both excelled in their studies and finished in the top of their class.
After graduating, she and Kendra went to study in the First Teaching Hospital in Tian Jin, China.
Upon returning to Canada, Marion opened her clinic in Nelson where she has been very successful in her practice, both helping and learning from the many people who have come to see her.
The practice of Chinese Medicine shows that everyone has their own unique spiritual, emotional and physical package. There is so much that can be done to promote physical healing. Marion feels that if the traditional avenues are insufficient, then there may need to be a reverence and understanding for the possibility of emotional/spiritual blockages that hinder normal healing patterns to progress.
Marion has always had a passion for plants and herbs and that passion was her segue to the herbal department of Chinese Medicine. Her knowledge of plants and her ability to analyze the physical and energetic body type of her patients give her a unique knowledge base to supply her clients with the best herbal combination for their specific needs. Just as each individual is different, so are the factors that have led them to a state of imbalance or disease. A customized, constitutional herbal formula will help fine tune sensitive areas of imbalance to the point that many significant aspects of a person’s life will correct themselves. Acupuncture effects the body’s energy and brings balance and harmony to the essential body systems to maintain and create health. As Marion has seen the healing effects of these combined modalities, her goal is to share this knowledge with the people in her community and to help balance their energy with acupuncture and herbs. To that end her main fields of interest are chronic pain and infertility.
Marion has called the Kootenays home for many years and holds both the area and the people here dear to her heart. Both her children were born here and raised on her family’s self-sufficient farm in Queens Bay. When she has leisure time away from the clinic, she loves to ride her horses, work in the beautiful gardens around her home and spend time with her family.
Marion has always worked hard and she will continue to do so, always doing her very best to help everyone who comes in the door of her clinic.
